The 2007 Roller Mills Boys |
North Harbour 34, Counties Manukau 12. HT Score 24-0.
North Harbour 17, King Country 15. HT Score 14-12.
Point Scorers: N Mouton, W Wahiri Tries, R Panui-Leth 2 Con, 1 Pen.
North Harbour 0, Auckland East 36. HT Score 0-19.
Game Highlights
Harbour was comprehensively outplayed by an efficient and powerful East Auckland side as indicated by the score.
North Harbour 20, Northland 14. HT Score 10-7.
Point Scorers: N Mouton, W Tawiri Tries, R Panui-Leth 2 Con 2 Pen.
Game Highlights
Another
tough game in which Harbour dominated territory and possesion for much
of the game without being able to put Northland away. A strong scrum
and lineout gave us a great platform, however our lack of finishing
kept Northland in the game. The boys continue to hold their own in a
very strong pool.
North Harbour 0, Bay of Plenty 34.
Game Highlights
A
tough hard physical game contested by even forward packs. The
difference being fast and aggressive backs where Bay of Plenty
dominated in this area. Crucial turn-over ball at vital times resulted
in long range tries to Bay of Plenty. The score line does not really
reflect the nature of the game. Harbour were denied several tries by
determined Bay of Plenty defence.
North Harbour 7, Waikato Rangers 5. HT Score 7 - 0.
Point Scorers: Tyler Manawaroa Try, Ben Bugg 1 Con.
Game Highlights
A
very tight game as indicated by the score, played on a heavy ground.
Strong defence by Waikato denied Harbour several tries in a forward
orientated game. We had to also defend for long periods in the first
half, but the team held on determinly at vital times to gain 4 valuable
points.

In 1924, the Northern Roller Milling Company presented a shield for competition between primary school teams from any rugby union within the Auckland Province. The next year, teams from other provinces were invited to compete for the shield in what became known as the NRM Roller Mills Tournament. It has been played every year since and has grown to include teams from Northland, North Harbour, Auckland (East & West), Counties Manakau, Waikato (Rovers & Rangers), King Country, Thames Valley and Bay of Plenty and is regarded by many as the ‘Ranfurly Shield’ of primary school rugby. Played in first week of the Term 3 school holidays, the tournament is run on a format of pool play between 2 pools of 5 teams, followed by semi final and finals. North Harbour has participated in the Roller Mills Tournament since the start of the Union in 1985. We won the tournament in 1993 and hosted it in 2004. In 2006 North Harbour finished 3rd and were winners of the Vancouver Cup. To be eligible for selection players must be attending primary or intermediate school within the North Harbour Rugby Union boundaries and be under 13 years old on the 1st of January in the year of the tournament and they must weigh less than 55kg at the time of the tournament. |
Congratulations
to the following players who have been selected for the 2007 North
Harbour Roller Mills team. The team will be coached by Stu Ashworth and
John Turner and will be Managed by John Trautvetter
