Vacancy: Rugby Manager - Junior Rugby


A great opportunity has arisen to join North Harbour Rugby in the role of Rugby Manager – Junior Rugby. North Harbour Rugby was formed in 1985 and encompasses a geographical area that includes 12 rugby clubs and 18 secondary schools within the North Harbour region.

The Junior Rugby Manager is responsible for:

 

Increasing engagement and participation in Junior Rugby across the North Harbour region, focusing on creating positive experiences for junior players within clubs and schools. This role involves developing rugby environments, organising school festivals, and supporting Junior Clubs to foster growth and excitement around the sport.

 

The Rugby Manager oversees the delivery of Small Blacks education for Junior coaches and supports their development through other Game Development/Coach Development opportunities

FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH

Union staff; NZRU staff; The Blues; other Provincial Unions; NPC management team; Clubs; schools; other stakeholders.

MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION

 

 

The Rugby Manager - Junior is responsible for:

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Junior Rugby Engagement & Participation

 

  • Develop and enhance Rugby environments to support the growth of Junior Rugby in the region, with a focus on Junior Clubs.
  • Organise and deliver Primary and Intermediate Schools Festivals to encourage participation and excitement around the sport.

Relationship and Stakeholder Management

  • Work cross functionally with other organisations to ensure Harbour Rugby is well respected
  • Work closely and collaborate with key intermediaries i.e. that support Junior Rugby

Game Development

  • Oversee the delivery of Small Blacks education for Junior coaches to ensure high-quality coaching standards.
  • Support Junior coaches in their development through other Game Development/Coach Development opportunities

Administration and Operational Management

 

  • Assist with Community programmes as required- which would include various community tournaments
  • Preparation of planning and reporting documentation as required.
  • Excellent standards of written and verbal communication.
  • Operate within budget at all times.

COMPOTENCIES

 

  • Passion for Rugby and a strong commitment to developing Junior Rugby.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Experience in working with junior sports programs or similar roles.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
